Today, we propose you three beautiful villages of the Axarquía that are very close to Nerja.

Frigiliana

Frigiliana is probably the most visited and well-known village in the Axarquía. This white jewel is considered one of the most beautiful villages in Spain.

Located just 6 kilometres from Nerja, you can access it just in 5 minutes by car. You can visit the Barribarto, the upper part of the old town of Arab origin.

There are many festivals and traditions during the year but the most famous is the 3 Cultures Festival , which is held the last weekend of August.

 

Comares

Comares has an impressive watchtower over 700 meters above the sea, also known as the balcony of the Axarquia, with stunning views of the mountains and coast.

Nature and sports lovers are in luck in this town with a spectacular zip line, a via ferrata, many trails and fountais. In Comares you can also find the Encarnación Church of Mudejar-style, built on the previous mosque, which is the best preserved in Málaga.

 

Cómpeta

Located at 630 meters above sea level, it is another natural balcony with impressive views. It is an ancient land dedicated to the cultivation of wine. Visit Cómpeta on the Wine Festival (15th August) is a must. Locals people treading the grapes to obtain wine that is given to visitors along with a portion of migas.
